You know how sometimes networking feels stiff? Not here! There were plenty of casual events where everyone just got to chat and connect over film. I met an indie producer from Nashville, and we’re already talking about collaborating on a project.
The range of stories blew me away! From local directors showcasing Memphis life to international filmmakers bringing in new perspectives, there was something for everyone. Day 1 Opening Ceremony
12:00pm – Opening Ceremony
Kick off the event! Festival-goers sign in, pick up their gifts, and get ready to rock with the best independent short films from around the world.
1:00pm – Opening Ceremony
Join us to get into the spirit of the festival, watch live bands and get ready for two days of great movies, fun and memorable moments.
2:00pm – Short Film Program
Take your seats early – these films pack a punch!
4:00pm – Producer Q&A
Hear from the mavericks behind the movies in an interactive Q&A session. Get up close and personal with the filmmakers and learn the stories behind the camera.
5:30 p.m. – Taste of Memphis: Food Truck Break
Local food trucks are coming in one by one, serving Memphis classics like barbecue, fried catfish and vegetarian soul food. Take a break to mingle with other moviegoers and soak up the local flavor.
7:00 p.m. – Sounds of the City: A Showcase of Short Music Films
Highlighting short music films that pay tribute to the Memphis music scene, from blues to soul to rock ‘n’ roll. The screening will be followed by live performances by local artists, bringing the spirit of Beale Street to the festival.
9:00 p.m. – Southern Nightcap: An Evening of Socializing
End the day with a social gathering of Memphis-inspired cocktails (or mocktails) and blues playlists. It’s a great way to relax, network and get ready for the next day!
Day 2: Encore and Finale
12:00pm – Day 2 begins with: ‘Pioneer Voices’
An inspiring film unit highlighting new voices in cinema who are redefining genres, breaking stereotypes and telling authentic stories.
2:00pm – Audience Choice Voting Begins
Get ready to vote! Vote for the festival’s Audience Choice Award, because your voice will define the festival’s big moments.
3:00pm – Masterclass: Shocking Short Films on Tour
Join industry professionals for a crash course on how to navigate the festival circuit, create a unique cinematic voice, and stand out from the crowd.
4:30 p.m. – Final Screening Unit: “The Soul of Memphis”
This is a vibrant screening section of boundary-pushing short films that capture the spirit of adventure, freedom and courage. Get ready to watch unforgettable films!
6:00pm – Filmmakers’ Lounge: Meet & Greet
Mingle with filmmakers, jury members and fellow fans in the Filmmakers’ Lounge. Raise a glass, make connections, and share the festival experience with like-minded individuals.
7:30pm – Awards Ceremony
Key Moment! Join us as we present the Audience Choice Award, Best Short Film Award, Best Director Award, and other awards recognizing the best of the best.
9:00pm – Festival Closing Ceremony: A Celebration of Rock and Roll
To celebrate the end of two days of exciting events, we’ll be hosting a closing concert where an amazing band will take the stage and light up the night with a rock anthem. It’s an unforgettable finale!
